Possibility—was born when the sky cried
the night at 11:02 pm on August 22nd, 2022
on Old Campus. The sky, like a scar in the
universe, sobbed so hard that the drops hurt
when they broke on my skin. I looked down
at my Converse, once light but now dark
blue, at my heavied brown skirt, soaking the
water up, closer and closer to me. It
reminded me of middle school science
experiments, watching pen ink travel
impossibly upwards on filter paper,
discovering water solubility and poetry and
denim jackets and deodorant. When did I
start wearing deodorant? I think I’m the
same person I was back then, hiding my
small body behind the corrugated red metal
doors of the locker as I changed.
